Does anyone know if massage therapy is beneficial; does it help to alleviate the symptoms? I’m heading to university in the fall and if massage therapy is beneficial I was curious if anyone knows if it would be possible to get my massage therapy fees covered for me because of chiari.

Hello Natasha! I’m not sure so I can’t offer advice on this but I’m interested in this also. Great question hopefully you’ll get some answers and I’ll definitely be checking back also take care!
I have had CM for 12 years and only recently had my decompression/craniotomy. Prior to the surgery I got monthly massages, sometimes more often depending on pain levels. They helped me tremendously. It increased my mobility and decreased the pain. Post-op, my physical therapist starts each session with a massage as well to loosen everything up. It was much more helpful prior to surgery.
As for insurance paying, if you have a doctor vouch for you, it is possible. But, it really depends on your insurance.
