So my doctor sends a email saying that the results came back no blockage but my tonsils have herniated further. Still nothing will be done about it. I'm frustrated. Dont get why a doctor says do nothing til it causes a blockage or paralyzes you or puts you in coma. Sometimes I wish I was a neurosurgeon so I could better understand their decisions. Im a basically single mom to three kids. I don't want to be home alone and something like that happen.... No med makes it better so what now suffer through it and deal with the possibilities?
Hi There..
I agree with Beeba...
I got a 2nd opinion before my surgery and was glad I did...the 2nd opinion 100% agreed with my NS...it just made me feel more at ease to have another well respected NS look at me as well as my films and medical history.
Let us know what is going on...we care!
Peace,
Lori
So I saw 4 neurosurgeons altogether. 2 when I was first diagnosed 4 1/2 years ago, and 2 this year. The second two each time were 2nd opinions, if that makes sense. In 2008, both NS’ agreed with each other, they could do surgery but based on symptoms recommended the “wait and see” approach, which is what I did.
Fast forward to 2012, symptoms had been steadily getting worse. Saw a NS, he basically dismissed my symptoms and barely believed I had Chiari or a syrinx even though both were clearly on 5 consecutive MRI’s. Got a 2nd opinion, he 100% disagreed with the other NS and recommended surgery. He took the time to measure my Chiari on screen in his office, as well as point out the syrinx.
Point is, I completely agree that a 2nd opinion is warranted. Don’t give up! Best of luck to you!
