Falling Down - JEEZ!

Yes, I have been through this for a period of 5-6 months. I used to leave the closet door open, so when I got up from bed, I would have a soft landing. This started after dental work. Because we have such a restricted lower brain space, the jaw can be very influential. Please look at the videos at the site of Dr. Brendan Stack, DDS, a specialist in the jaw. http://www.tmjstack.com Have you ever had a tilt table study ?

I couldn’t open this file! I’m interested to know more about this because I had to have a root canal over a month ago and I have had a major flare up in every symptom!

Deena,

Dental work can really flair you up when you have Chiari. I also have TMJ. I have had to have a lot of work done and it's always hell. Heat helps me recover some. I always tell the doctor about the Chiari and TMJ and tell them they have to be gentle. No tugging or pushing hard. I also tell them that my neck can't be bent, I need a bite guard, dark glasses and I need to take breaks every once and a while during long procedures. I also ask them to give me meds to help afterwards. Sometimes they do and somtimes they don't. I am sorry that it flaired you up. It's awful.

Deena, This opened okay for me. Try Googling "Brendan Stack TMJ" or something like that. Go to his website and view the videos. If the videos do not open you could call his office and ask them to please send you his patient DVDs. I recently read some discussion ( by neurosurgeons) about the Chiari surgery. They mentioned that about 50% of the surgeries are considered 'successful.' So, there must be other factors that are influencing that critical space in the lower skull/upper neck? My sacrum/pelvis also influences my neck/jaw. Hope this is helpful.

Hi Terri,

LOL speaking of falling, I fell up an escalator on Friday. only 7 stitches. Entirely my fault as I should hold on to the railing. Or better yet never take an escalator. I have fallen crossing one of the busiest intersections in Toronto. Just be careful. Hold on to railings where possible and hope for the best. I never really feel that dizzy when I fall. Part of what makes it more embarrassing.
