Eye twitching and mouth pulling down Is this related to chiari

Hi guys.

two seperate questions really.

  1. I keep getting twitching in my eyes and it is driving me crazy… I think it is my eyelids but im not certain. All i know is that because of the diagnosis i have been put onto desk work within the police station and now all i am doing is compiling reports… completely computer based and the eye twitching is making me feel terrible. Not to mention the pain in my back but thats a seperate beast…

  2. For about 2-3 weeks now i have felt a weird pulling on my bottom lip at the left side.
Im not sure if anything is physically happening as when it happens i am not in front of a mirror… It feels like my lip is being pulled down and to the left… it doesnt last long… maybe 3-4 seconds…

just wondered if anyone has had anything similar.

Thanks

Hi Poptart,

Thank you for the replies. Im worried that my symptoms are getting rapidly worse in the last 3 weeks and the little things like this that im talking about i would never have linked them with Chiari before they diagnosed me last week.

Im not sure what I should do because as I said they have taken me off frontline policing because of the risk of getitng into some kind of fight or falling etc but that means desk job… Now this desk job and looking at the computer is driving me crazy in the last hour I have started with an intense pain at the back of my head and it feels like someone is driving a knee into the top of my back…

My wife thinks im now exaggarating the symptoms or imagingin them since i got the MRI results so that is making me stressed even more… She is worried about me getting signed off sick from work so i feel i have to just put up with the pains and not tell anyone in case that happens… Oh i dont know… its all doing my head in to be honest. Still really annoyed with the hospital for sending me the letter saying i have this and not taking even one minute to explain what it is or what i should do to deal with it.

I feel like im at the beggining of a long road that is unlit and i have to try and find my way to the end of it…

I have been looking for a doctor who specialises in chiari malformation type 1 in the UK and cant find any… Im worried that my doctor doesnt know too much about it… ive tried her secretary and left 2 messages over the last few days and that is being ignored…

Sorry for venting i know it prob makes me seem like a real moner but i am not too happy at the moment.

Hello Tammo I know this an old thread but hoping you are still part of this forum. I am also a police officer and recently diagnosed with CM type I and wondering how your job has changed since your diagnosis, are you still at the desk or back to patrol or did you have to quit the force? Just wondering where my future is headed.
