Exercise

Hi all. New to the site - thanks for making me feel welcome already. I was recently diagnosed with Chiari and I am having a difficult time finding information about what sort of fitness/exercise is acceptable (and encouraged).

I am a fairly active person who regularly participates in spinning, yoga and 'bootcamp' workouts (think a gentler more 'safe' crossfit).

My Chiari symptoms are fairly mild and only consist of tingling in arms/legs and severe short-lived head aches only 4-5x/year.

Does anyone have any information regarding what's safe (or not safe) for those of us with Chiari?

Many thanks for your responses!

Buffalo, I would continue your exercise routine as long as your symptoms allow it. I would avoid, however, inversions, tucking or extending your head, or stretching your neck.

I agree with Jenn about the inversions and such. Otherwise just pay close attention to how you feel during and after a particular exercise and eliminate anything that seems to make your symptoms worse. It's great that you are able to stay active! :)
