Last week I had the CINE MRI that was requested by the Mayfield Clinic. Due to insurance issues my regular doctor ordered it. I saw her today for a follow up and apparently my csf flow is normal.
So if the symptoms are attributed to blocked csf and mine is normal then I guess all the NL I’ve seen have been right…chiari is not causing my symptoms? I have an appointment with an NS at UVA next week and then Mayfield the following week. I wonder if I should even go. I had doubts about being taken seriously before but how can I be now?
I Totally agree with Beeba. I just had my surgery done by a Mayfield doctor 12 days ago. The way they do it several doctor’s will review your tests not just one. Go.
I guess I will go. They actually don't take my insurance so I am paying out of pocket for a consultation. I just read on their website where it says the blockage of csf causes symptoms so that makes me think that they'll tell me chiari isn't causing my symptoms.
My family doctor says she will see what these consults say (Mayfield and UVA) and if they say it's not chiari she wants to refer me to a NL that will do a spinal tap to rule out MS (though no lesions on the MRI should be enough IMO) and if it's not that then we will repeat bloodwork for rheumatological issues yearly. Basically years more of pain and fatigue. She did give me neurontin but says it may have a sedative effect so I can't really take that and work. :(
