Just an FYI Dr.Richard Ellenbogen works at University of Washington and Harborview. He is an absolutely amazing neurosurgeon. I saw him on December 19 and was scheduled for surgery at the same apt. Surgery was on January 10 2013. And any md can order the CINE mri. I would definitely get a 2nd opion. Good luck!
If I already put this on just disregard! :) I miss my brain.
Pretty much anyone can order an MRI as long as it makes sense. My Urologist couldn't order one because that isn't what she specializes in... The best way to find out it to get the codes for the MRIs. Every procedure is broken down by a CPT code, then is further broken down by dx or ICD9 code. Basically how that works is the MRIs have the CPT code and the ICD9 is why or what are they ordering it for. If your Insurance doesn't have the codes anyplace that offers MRIs should be able to give them to you. Again good luck! I can't believe your Mom had 23mm's! I've never heard of that long, I'm sure there is worse out there. My poor friend didn't realize that Chiari tends to run in families and her daughter just found out she has it as well. Her brother was doing really well after Dr. Ellenbogen did the surgery but he had the tumor in his back and somebody rear ended him. Which caused the tumor to burst. :( BUT that is NOT going to happen to you! I was going to ask you about your concussions? My daughter is at BYUI and two of her roommates were messing around and one hit her head pretty hard. They left for awhile and after they came back she threw up. The next day she was antsy (which is how I felt after I had a really mild one) and then passed out. My daughter is very concerned and even though I was at a Doctors office and texting my daughter what they were saying there (I was there for something else) she still won't go in. I just worry because of what happened to Liam Neeson's wife. I know most people don't die from hitting their heads but with that many symptoms I'm amazed somebody wouldn't go in. Just curious since you seem to be an "expert" with four. Hope you're doing well and can find a Doctor soon. I'm having my CINE MRI on Monday and I'm cautiously optimistic. :)

They all are so dumb! Can't believe that the PA who has been treating me for 4 concussions lied to me about ordering a MRI. Oh my gosh , 2? So sorry. Im definitely going to get all my info together before going to one. My moms surgeon is over at Yale Hospital in New Haven CT, so I will probably go there if needed. Did you have blockage, is that why they ordered the surgery? Or because of symptoms? So confused as to what it takes to get some real medical attention from doctors.
