Chronic Sinusitis and Chiari?

I have had years of chronic sinusitis, two sinus surgeries and I’m on antibiotics non stop year round. Now that I’ve been dx with Chiari, I wonder if the two could be related? Infection causing the Chiari or maybe it was there all along. Over the last 3 week my loss of vision, weakness, dizziness and numbness has progressed rapidly which my neurologist says does not sound like Chiari. The worst part is my Nero is still wanting me to get a lumbar puncture which I hear is bad for Chiari pts…So confused!!

If your symptoms are getting worse, you need to push your doctor for answers. If they don't think it's Chiari, what is it then? As GabbyJazzypants replied in your other discussion, the Chiari likely affects not only the csf flow, but other structures too, such as blood vessels. As I was told by my neuro, if there is something wrong with the vessels in your neck(which are supplying your brain with blood, cerebellum being the first brain part they reach), that can explain weakness, dizziness, tingling ans presumably other symptoms. As for your vision- have you seen an ophtalmologist? If the vision problems are caused by Chiari, figuring it out sooner rather than later may save your eyesight.

Keep copies of the tests you've had! If your doctor isn't seriously searching for the cause, find a better doctor! In this case, having copies of your tests will speed thing up.

Good luck!
