Chronic Neck Pain Post-Surgery/Tummy Tuck Consult

Hello! I had my first and (so far) only craniotomy 3 and a half years ago. I had immediate complications a few months after surgery and was in physical therapy for nearly a year. I have had nerve blocks as well as a procedure where they go in and “burn” the nerve endings. Basically doctors I’ve seen post surgery think my NS did major nerve damage when he closed my incision.

I’m now currently having accupuncture done once a month and will be starting PT again tomorrow. I’ve had severe chronic pain every day of the last 3 and a half years, but within the last two weeks my pain has worsened. I can barely sit in my office chair the full day without going home to lay down and cry. I’m worried that something has happened and I’ll need surgery again. Has anyone experienced something like this?

Also I’ve gained about 50 pounds in the last year and due to my severe neck pain I’m literally unable to do any kind of stomach exercising without crying. I had a consult for a tummy tuck procedure. Has anyone had to resort to plastic surgery due to their neck pain?

Hello - I haven’t had decompression surgery as of yet so can’t comment on that. Just wanted to say I am so sorry to hear things aren’t going well for you. Have you considered a consult / second opinion with a different neurosurgeon? I wish you all the best!

Kaitlyn,
I actually had an MRI done last week and the results came back "normal’. I mean that everything looks the same as it did in 2014, from my one year post surgery MRI. So unfortunately, surgery will not do anything to help me. I’m now on a medication for nerve pain and still doing accupuncture and physical therapy. Unfortunately nothing is working. :frowning:
