Chiari Surgery causes the start of Hydrocephalus

So, it's been about almost 2 months after Chiari surgery.
I have this fluid issue, because of making more room.. My body thinks it needs to make more fluid but really it has enough.
My doctor called me today and said I have the onset of Hydrocephalus. Which right now is being controlled with medicine.
If it gets any worst they will put a shunt in, and I will have a long hospital stay. Which I hope and pray this does not happen!
I guess this is complication after surgery, he stated it is very rare.

But the medicine is working and I am feeling like a normal teenager again! (:

Awe I am so sorry to hear that. :frowning: I hope the medicine does the job and you don’t have to get the shunt. You deserve to feel like a normal teen and enjoy those years.

Sydney, I have been away for a while. I am so glad that you finally were "heard" and had the surgery. I hope that the hydrocephalus abates. Peace, Fr. D

Hi Sydney! I’m new to this site since yesterday actually. I just watched your two videos and was definitely moved! I am just 3 weeks post op and have been having a pretty rough time. I have had a lot of emotional side effects, which have been hard on my family as well as myself. I’m glad I found this group and have already met several people that are very encouraging. I hope all the CSF works its way to normal without having to go back in and putting in a shunt! I would love to keep up with your progress!
