Chiari 1 with no other complications

Morning everyone. My name is Shirley, I have CM1 with no other complications, CSF is flowing well, no syrinx & no hydrocephalus, since January of this year I've been getting severe headaches at the back of my skull, weakness & pain down my arms in particular my right arm to the point that it's interfering with every day life, can only lift something light, can only drive short distances as it starts to feel heavy & sore, have very bad pain in my neck & into the shoulders. Had a CINE MRI 2 weeks ago & saw the NS last Thursday, he doesn't know what's causing the problems, he said the MRI of my brain is normal other than the CM1, my herniation is 9-10mm, I was actually hoping he was going to tell me there was a problem so he could give me some options (I know that sounds strange but I just needed answers) instead he said he doesn't know what's causing my symptoms & doesn't think it's to do with the CM1, I just wanted to see if anyone else is in a similar situation to me & what they have done. He is referring me to a NL & a pain specialist & has also put me on a course of Lyreca, I feel like I am loosing my mind as I know there has to be something causing all of these problems & it's not in my head! Thanks

Hello Abby, I thought I replied to your post but I don't know what I did :( thank you for your reply. The NS said there is no fluid block, as there is no blockage he doesn't think that my symptoms are being cause by the Chiari. He said on the MRI there didn't seem to be any nerve compression either. I was just wondering if anyone else here has Chiari with no fluid blockage or any other problems it brings but has all the symptoms that I have, I see a lot of people on this page have much more problems then I have & i can't even imagine what they are going through, I am wondering if my problems are muscular

Thanks Abby, he is sending me to a NS so I will ask him what he thinks, I did think that all the signs were pointing to Chiari. Thanks for your reply

I too do not have any blockage of spinal fluid, yet still have intense migraines *(mine are temporal) and pain/weakness in my right hand, dizziness and lose my balance a lot. I'm going to see a Chiari specialist (neurosurgeon) today. Maybe he'll shed some light on this and I can update you on what I find out.
