Hi everyone,...
I have been running to the Neurologist, the neuro surgeon, and had some tests done...all to say they are now saying that I am only "borderline" chiari...which means.all of my pain is being caused by C5 -C6 disc. ALL those headaches!!..the arm pain, hand pain..etc,,etc,,,they feel strongly its my disc and My Chiari is "borderline"...anyone else have this? Anyway, I may be leaving this lovely group because after all, a borderline chiari isn't anything to worry about..(am I right on this??) or is there a possibility that borderline can spread??....anyway, looks like I am going for a fusion of C5 C6 in April unless I get bumped up due to a cancellation... God Bless
This is a great link for a previous Discussion on Chiari 0. It should give you some good information.

My surgeon did a surgery on a chairi 0 and symptoms immediately started getted better. He is a symptoms dr. Does not believe in the size but the patient symptoms. It’s real. He’s researching it David jimenez San Antonio Texas university health science google
Good MOrning Beeba,
Everything I have read states that the symptoms are what are taken into consideration- dont give up! :)
This doctor sounds ill informed. If I were you I would try to get a second opinion before you underwent any procedure with this guy. It's very worrisome that he laughed about the CINE MRI because it's a very common test that most NS use to determine if a chiari patient is a surgical candidate!
I would be getting a second opinion too. If he doesn’t know what a cine MRI is how could he possibly know enough about chiari.
Brandi,
I'm watching a show with your Doctor on it. Some guy managed to get a 4 pound hook in his head! It's Untold Stories From the E.R. I knew his name sounded familiar! So I put his name in under discussion and here I am! :) The show is back from 2006 the kids and I love to watch it because people do such crazy things! Have you had surgery yet or is that the 0 surgery?

Hey,
I was reading this because I was looking up Dr. David Jimenez because I knew I had heard his name before. He's on on a show called Untold Stories of the E.R. When they said his name I just knew I'd heard it so I googled it then put in discussions in here and searched for it here and found your discussion. I also have "mild" Chiari and have been told that I am not surgical. All of this was done without seeing me a second time and after my symptoms have taken a turn for worse. I had a seizure during my root canal yesterday and I'm trying not to e-mail the Neurosurgeon something nasty about that. :) Like I'm sure everyone has told you, your herniation doesn't dictate what your symptoms are like. My daughter has a 5mm herniation and has migraines every once in awhile. Mine is so slight most people say it isn't there. I am going to fly out to Wisconsin to see what the next step is. Dr. Heffez already has my scan and since October he has known what is wrong with me. He was talking to my pain doctor while I was there and said to just come he already knew what was wrong and he didn't need anything else. It's going to be a pain, I have anxiety, so scary, an inconvenience and everything else but I don't have a choice. The head Neurosurgeon here won't help anyone under 12 mm. They say he's conservative. I say he's a wimp. The sad thing is everyone treats him like a God so if he won't do it here no one will. Good luck to you, I know this is a few weeks late but hope it helps some. :)
