I've read several posts where people say that you should measures successes over time rather than daily. Ain't that the truth! My girlfriend has been struggling mightly with head aches since her surgery 3 years ago. Recently she started having severe back pain as well. The back pain makes me think of a syrinx or tethered cord though because of her symptoms. Lots of localized pain, tingling and numbness in her hands and feet. Her doctor has put her on new meds but we're still waiting for them to kick in. BUT...today she says she is feeling a bit better than she has in about 2 weeks! I will take that! Whether it is the meds or just happenstance, I don't care. She is such a bubbly and happy person and when she is in this much pain, it breaks my heart. Each day is a struggle for her but she does her best to not let it get the best of her. Can't say I would be as big a person in her shoes. One day at a time with lots of love. Baby steps.
Hi…
So sorry that your girlfriend is suffering s…she is lucky to have you…you seem to be very caring and supportive…
Has she see a NS lately to see if she has a tethered cord or SM???
Is she a member here as well??
You are so right…baby steps…good to read that she has had a few good weeks.
Keep us posted on things.
Take care,
Lori
She seems lucky to have you & thank you for being there for her. We appreciate even the smallest improvement. I'll pray that she has more baby steps of improvement. Even when we get a little worse, we can focus on our improvements. It's hard to get a doctor to order a MRI of the whole spine, but it would be good if she could have one. Of course, she'd need a good radiologist to read it. I hope she has a great neurosurgeon too. God Bless.
I say just keep on keeping on,it’s the way we get to the better days. She is a lucky girl to have a shoulder to lean, that means so much.Hope she gets some answers soon,I’ve heard there’s no cure for chiari but we must find the right NS not all of them know what the specialist do.I’m always telling anyone with this condition to please find a specialist, one who does lots of decompressions, carefully listens to symptoms, does tilt table tests, the special mris needed.I wasted years of my life on Dr.s who can’t diagnose this, finally found a NS who knew that herniation is not the only consideration in making a correct diagnosis. The specialist I see is one of the best if not the best,Dr. Micheal Rosner.in Hendersonville N.C.he was probably among the first to do these surgeries, it is worth traveling if possiable.
It’s wonderful your girlfriend have your support. When I had my surgery 2 1/2 months ago, the support and prayers from my friends, family and this forum really got me through the tough times. Just hang in there and believe that your girlfriend is going to get through this difficult time.
