Hey everyone! It’s been five days since my surgery and so far it’s been a journey. My walk had improved and my speech has as well. The pain is out if control but however I follow the doctors orders and I feel fine. Sometime I have headaches and spasms but they don’t last long. Lastly I haven’t had a bowel movement since the day of the surgery and I’m nervous. I’m now drinking prune juice , water and getting ex lax for the "dance@ to occur. Starting next week I’ll try to walk without the walker. Thanks everyone for your support.
I found out myself after surgery that the bathroom thing is a normal reaction to anesthesia! lol!
I'm glad that you are doing well and improving steadily! Best wishes for the speediest of recoveries! :)
I just 1 month post op my self. I had the same problem, prune juice mixed with grape helped me to drink more. fruit and yogurt. And anything with fiber. I also got benefiber and added it to everything. If you drink coffee or tea sometimes those help too. Hope everything goes well for you.
Mer, what you are going through sounds similar to mine. I believe I went 8 or 9 days before I finally had a bowel movement...My doc put me on stool softeners twice a day from the day of surgery on....all I will say about that is I would hate to see what it would have been like without it. From what I understand, the waiting game is pretty normal. My doc was not worried as long as I was passing gas because that meant everything was working the way it should.
Good luck with your recovery, I'm glad you are already seeing improvements.
