Yestèrday I got a sec opinion from a neurosurgeon I found on 1 of these sites. Unlike the first dr he said he does believe my chiari is significant and wild rec ommend sugary but it’s up to me. He sid I my leg pain def cld be stemming Dom the chiari where Az the other dr sAid it hAd NOthing to do with it. He also wants me tested for carpAl tunnel
Glad they gave you some other options. I agree with Katie you need a CSF flow test. I had very bad hip pain before surgery that has now gone away. I had the nerve tests done last summer and I didn’t think they were that bad at all. I would say they were uncomfortable but not extruciating pain.
Good luck!
Diana
Hi......
I too agree about the CINE MRI....flow study...also have you had a full spine MRI to make sure there is no syrinx on the spine??
I have had many EMGS/Nerve Conduction Studies done...I think it depends on who is doing it,,,all my tests we not bad as far as pain..Katie....you must have gotten a NEWBIE!!!! I do agree with Katie ..it is not fun....mine was like Dianas' ..uncomfortable.
Good luck..keep us updated.
Peace,
Lori
Katie...
I am so sorry.....I didn't mean to offend you ...Sorry that you have Fibro to deal with as well...Please forgive me..did not mean to minimize your experience.
Maribeth,
What did these doctors base their diagnosis's on? symptoms or actual scans, or other tests?
Katie,
There is no reason for you to be tested for fibromyalgia because it is simply a label for a set of symptoms which you already know you have. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia first, then when the pain got specific enough (neck and head) I did some research and requested the MRI for what I suspected to be CM. Turns out I had CM. Fibromyalgia is a name for a collection of symptoms to help put people at ease and possibly try some new pills. It is supposedly a disease with no known cause or cure. If you have CM then you shouldn't worry about FM anymore because you found the cause. hope this helps<3
Bill,
I Love your posts. They are very well written and your information very helpful. I do have to disagree with you though about Fibromyalgia. I am an RN & have a Master's Degree in Managed Healthcare & worked for BCBS as a Sr. Appeals Spec.before I became to ill to work. Fibromyalgia is a ligitimate Rheumatological Diagnosis. It's where you have pressure points & the nerves misfire causing severe chronic pain , most have Chronic Fatique Syndrom also. Social Security & Medicare considers it a ligitimate diagnose as do all mgr insurers. I personally know several people that have been tested for every syndrom & illness under the sun & they only have Fibromyalgia. They also Thank God for Savella and Lyrica. This is not a psychiatric disease as people once thought. I would think with all the non truths we have to overcome with CM you would be more understanding about other health problems.
