1 yr post-op (strong language ahead)

One year ago today was the single most life-changing event of my existence...brain surgery. Am I better? No, I will never be my old self...I will never be able to rock climb or get on the ice to skate ever again, my equilibrium just isn't there. Am I better off than most Chiarians? Maybe, but it's only cuza my own stubborn determination. If needed, will I undergo surgery again? $%^& no.

Beneath the dreads I wear my Zipperhead scar proudly, knowing most people can't endure the pain I went through and continue to experience. It's a $%^& YOU to the disease.

I was dizzy and had poor balance after my surgery for nine months. I was not happy about all the things that I could not do in my social life nor basic things around the house (like shower or hang curtains). Then I found an exercise that puts my balance back to normal levels. It is called the Tonic labyrinthine exercise and is dorky and weird and I have to look at my cheat sheet every six months or so when I have to do it again but it works. No medication. And as soon as I feel a bit dizzy (again - every 6 months or so) I do it a few times and am good to go again. It is all on what you know! You just haven't found what you needed yet. So use that determination to get a move on.
