Why is my Neurologist fobbing me off?!

Hi Guys

Went to see a Neurologist as my last scan showed my hernia had increased from 4.5mm to 5.5mm, he done the neurological exam and said that I had trouble following his finger with my eyes and that eye movements were a bit jerky. He said I do not have Chiari and said I should see an eye Doctor.

Does anyone know if eye movements can be connected to Chiari? Also, I have had a 'lazy' eye since childhood....

Also, advice on whether anyone out here has problems lying on their back, I feel like the pressure on my skull is so intense that I could black out.

Any advice appreciated!!

Hi Helen,

You need to see a neurosugeon. They generally have more expertise in Chiari.

Take care,

Helen, this NL is not qualified to even discuss Chiari- he has done you a disservice. Move on to a true Chiari expert NS. Having an eye exam is a good idea, but keep in mind that unless the eye doc is a neuro optometrist they may not know what to look for either. Find the highest recommended Chiari NS and get yourself there! I’m sorry you had such a disappointing appointment with the NL.
