Symthoms of chiari or not?

My 10 year old daughter was diagnosed With chiari 8 days ago. 7 days prior she tested positive to having mono.

Yesterday she was great, she looked like herself, acted like herself, ate, was just a typical 10 year old. Today I can’t get her out of bed. She’s not sleeping but just laying around watching tv. She won’t sit up. She has never complained of a head ache, however a neck ache was her main complaint. That and random vomiting made the doctor order MRI. Today her neck hurts on a scale of 1-10 about a 2. Which normally it’s about a 2-3 and a 5 on a bad day.

Since we are so new to knowing anything about chiari, is this typical chiari or symptoms of mono? Her pcp is clueless, says “if it’s not the chiari, then she got hit with mono hard but I don’t know enough about chiari to answer your question” this is the same doctor that almost made me pass out when she told me that my baby has chiari. She told me to sit down because it’s not good news and that I needed to get a appointment with a neuro surgeon asap. I’m still shaking my head at how much she is an alarmist.

Her neck only started hurting right after her b-day party on Jan 28th. She was diagnosed with mono on 3/12 and chiari on 3/20. We saw neuro surgeon yesterday and he’s not an alarmist and told us more test are needed to know exactly what he will need to do.

So what is everyone opinion? Is it bad mono or the chiari?

Where is the neck pain? If it's in the front or lyphm nodes it's probably Mono. But if its the back of the neck or even big muscles on side it could be the Chiari. I use heat packs filled with seeds that you warm in the microwave. It really helps with the pain and stiffness.
