My surgeon said that as long as it wasn’t leaking out of the incision then
they weren’t worried. I found that concerning but couldn’t do anything
about it…So I just kept sleeping upright ( still am) and the pooling
stopped.
Unfortunately today the numbness in my face returned when i bent over and I
got a headache when I coughed so now I feel that I am back to where I was
before the surgery!
Is that normal to happen? How long does it take for us to feel normal
without the head pressure?

I’m so depressed! All of my symptoms seem to be coming back and my surgery was on Oct. 28th, 2016! I bend over and my face goes numb… what’s happening? Is it normal to have the symptoms come back so soon after decompression surgery? I feel sooooo down! Surgeon is away… did I go through all of that for nothing??? Please help!
I stopped having to sleep upright about 10 days ago. My surgery was just a few days before yours. Oct 24th. I still have trouble bending over. My head starts pounding with my heartbeat. It doesn’t hurt, just is super uncomfortable. My Neuro did tell me to be very careful and try not to bend over for 12 full weeks after surgery. I am so sorry the numbness has returned and headaches when you cough. I am not having any headaches anymore. They finally went away about 2 weeks ago. One thing I have learned with this surgery is to be really pushy with my Dr.s and make them take me seriously. I am not having any Chiari symptoms now except the weirdness when bending over but I do expect that to eventually resolve.
I also had my surgery in Oct it was the 1st week of Oct but I still get some headaches/dizzy when bending and if I look up it hurts as well. I am now in physical therapy and they said we will work on range of motion and hopefully that will help.
Do you get facial numbness when you bend or exert yourself? It seems as if
my incision area has caved in now and I have a very deep area where the
scar is and I wonder if that is putting pressure on everything again. I
don’t think the surgery worked at all. How long does it take for
inflammation to go down?
