Ok,so having now been diagnosed what are the options available to manage or even cure this thing. I’d like to hear peoples experiences of surgery or anything else that’s an option. So far on here all I’ve seen is post op stories about how they aren’t improved! . I can’t bare the thought of living a life on pills for pain and dizziness. Wot about my co-ordination ? I’m a chef I need my hands and my concentration !

So no one has had a positive result from surgery in the entire world ?

Hello Andrea, please give members chance to visit the site and catch up with the latest discussions and offer their replies. Activity on the site waxes and wanes and I know this can be frustrating when you want some immediate feedback. There are lots of positive stories but surgery isn't a cure or even a quick fix. Recovery can be slow, over a year in some instances. It also has to be said that people who have achieved significant recoveries (medical or surgical) are often too busy getting on with their lives to visit with us often. You may like to look up posts by member gabbyjazzypants who has undergone surgery and who works extremely hard to improve and manage her Chiari symptoms. There are also many past discussions which you might like to browse as well. Hope this helps. Jules

Hello Andrea, I had surgery in September with great success!!! Before hand I tried many medications for my headaches with no relief. I also had many other symptoms including ringing and fullness in the ears, numbness in hands face chest and feet, pain on my spine and shoulder, memory issues, and lost of words. Now I can say I am 80% better at 4 months post op!!! The surfer is not a cure only a treatment for symptoms and as far as I have researched there in no cure for us unfortunately.

Hay ! Such great news ! I’m so pleased for you. Thanks for taking the time to get back to me its very much appreciated.its far to easy to feel sorry for myself, but am reading up and researching and hoping theres a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel…good luck with your health from this point forward.xx

The options were death or surgery so positive as in I survived that's about it. Honestly I question the decision quite often ,but I was under 18 so the choice was not mine.
