I am one week post op for decompression for a 15mm chiari with syrinx! I can feel and hear fluid at the top of my incision which is new my post op MRI looked amazing the day I came home from the hospital. Does anyone happen to know what is going on?!?
I did too for s long time. Have shunt headaches when weather is stormy. My surgery was Sept 2012. I have never been able to go back to work and now have seizures. Memory is very poor
Hi, Tamkay.
How’re you doing? Has this symptom subsided?
Stay strong!
Hugs,
Laurie
Tamkay I am about to have my 5th surgery done I had a decompression surgery done but the doctor didn’t fix the syrinx. Can u please tell me a little of what happen in your surgery I am scared I don’t know what is going on with this one yet.
I am 9 weeks postoperative but no syrinx. I felt and heard fluid in my right side, it drained into my ears area and caused hearing issues, but that has resolved. My surgeon said all was normal and it would resolve and it did. Pain around incision and drag raft site still painful, hoping that goes away too!
I had decompression in 2004. I have had multiple shunt revisions. I always have that swishing feeling in my head. Never goes away. I’ve learned to live with it. Doctors can’t really help.
Me too. Thanks Katie for describing the swishing . . . I have called it feeeling like I had water in my head but swishing is a much better description.
Thank y’all I still feel and hear it I’m now 3 weeks post op! I’m glad to know it’s normal I thought something was wrong oh and by the way Happy Mothers Day to you all
Debra when I had my surgery my syrinx was large which had caused my C2 and C3 vertebra’s to fuse to my spine this was my very first surgery but my balance is already better but as for the brain fog it’s back!! I thought I was ready to drive but I get lost going to places I have been several times I’m hoping it goes away and soon! My incision still feels like it’s pulling and I’m assuming that will heal with time!
