Does anyone know much about shunt overdrainage and how to treat it in someone with a programmable shunt that already has an anti siphon device. I also have already had a chiari decompression. My surgeon is recommending a proSA be added into my system which he hasn’t done before (red flag for me). Google research is all I know about it. It a new programmable shunt assist device. I stand up for a few hours I get headache, worse ringing ear, fullness in my ear, vision changes, nausea. I feel the CSF pouring out the shunt tubing in my groin. What to do? Any second opinion recommendations?
Thanks for your input ChiariPT. I have a cisternoperitoneal programmable ProGAV Shunt. Turning it up and down hasn’t really seemed to help. Another reason the my neurosurgeon seems to think I need an addition shunt assist device. I have not been evaluated for syrinx, although none has ever been seen on cervical MRI. I have never had an MRI of my thoracic or lumbar spine. I am being treated by surgeon at Barrows, but I would like to consider a second opinion elsewhere.
