My h/aches always start in my neck area, run up to the middle of the back of my head where it feels like I have been slammed with a 2x4
Now the pain is moving on up the left behind my left eye. The pain is unbearable, i can't see out of my left eye and it feels like it is bulging out of my head. Anyone else with this problem?
Hi Shannon, have you discussed this with your doctor? It is a good idea to let your doctor know of new or worsening symptoms. Hang in there and keep us updated on how you are doing. Gentle hugs.
I have that problem all the time. I was diagnosed with Chiari after a car accident and the drs thought it was all from my head injury but 3 years later the headaches are just as bad if not worse some days.
So sorry to hear! Def go talk to the dr. It is hard sometimes to figure out symtoms if they are new. Don't always assume it is Chiari. :( prayers!
My Neck/head is always on my left side. I’m not having any pain behind my eye, but it just hit me that I have 20/20 vision but can barely see out of my left eye. I’m going to add this questions for my neurologist. Never ends.
Hi Shannon,
I have started experiencing similar symptoms since last year. My neurologist and neurosurgeons haven't been of much help other than offer countless medications.
When I get an episode, it starts with my neck ( left side) then progresses to head ache and in a day or two extreme pain behind the left eye all the way down to my foot! Somehow when my symptoms flare up my left side gets affected more. I can't drive on such days and life becomes extremely difficult.
Over the last year I have come up with my own coping mechanism. This mightn't work for everyone but just wanted to share my story ( I think I wrote a post similar to your's last year!).
When my eye pain begins. I restrict my neck movement by wearing a neck brace. I don't drive for the next couple of days ( the hardest part!). I apply hot soaks to my neck and eye. I still exercise, mild walks etc. And recently I have discovered reflexology that appears to work for me. I am also a huge believer in alternative medicine. Last year when my symptoms become unbearable and after visits to docs failed, I went back to India ( I am from India) to seek ayurveda treatment. Ayurveda mightn't be for everyone since it calls for huge lifestyle changes but it helped me immensely. Of course nothing can completely alleviate our symptoms ( since the problem is anatomical) but certain treatments can be extremely supportive. I got a huge relief from my headaches and eye trouble since I met the ayurveda doctor with a simple medicated oil massage.
Hope this helps and feel better soon!

Hi Shannon,
Sorry for all the pain you're in. I've had 3 decompression surgeries so far and they are telling me I need a 4th. I also have a syrinx that goes from my c1-c7. We are all with you and understand how hard it is when new pain comes along and you're feeling like "Seriously! Pain here too!" I just wanted you to know that pain behind you eyes in a normal thing with Chiari. I actually don't like to say "headaches" because doctors are so quick to label you with "chronic headaches" when in reality is not a regular headache... it's pressure! And those are two different things.
Hope this helps,
Juda

Hi Destini, I am sorry to hear of the occipital neuralgia. I don't know if you are aware but Ben's Friends has a support site for Occipital Neuralgia if you are interested. You can find a link to all the Ben's Friends support sites on the home page. Hugs.

Totally relate. Mine gets worse throughout the day, so I use ice on my neck and lay down for thirty minutes every six hours. That helps a ton.
I am so sorry you are struggling with this type of pain. It can be very challenging.
Peace, B
Yes. I find ice helps the most. When I ice my head I also put ice I freezer bags wrapped with thin dish towel on my eyes. Helps the pain more than pain meds
I have always had this problem. I use ice at the base of my skull and ice mask for eyes take pain meds get in dark and pray. NOTHING MAKES THEM GO AWAY BUT IT DOES EASE IT SOME. BE BLESSED.
