New MRI shows 7-9 mm herniation being referred to surgeon

Hey everyone!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted! Five months ago I was barley classified as having Arnold Chiari malformation at just under 5 mm. I recently had a CINE flow and it shows the herniation at 7-9 mm and an asymmetric blockage of flow. I have now been referred to a neurosurgeon. What are the chances I’ll get surgery? My symptoms have been horrendous!

Thanks all!

Sara

hi sara…I would think your chances are pretty high you will get surgery, your herniation is now interfering with your flow and with your increase in the severity of your symptoms I would think surgery will be likely…if you need the surgery I wish you the very best results and a speedy recovery
