Medication that decreases CSF pressure

so after my lumbar puncture to check the csf pressure, i felt pain free for about 2 weeks....literally felt like i had my life back. of course the NS said there was no pressure and i just needed my eyes exam, which i had done prior to this appointment and the eye doctor said i had pressure build up.... anyway that's an entirely different situation.

today i went to my pain specialist to schedule my next cervical injection, and told him about being pain free after my lumbar puncture, and he said there is a medication that can decrease the csf pressure, if that is what is causing the headaches. I can't remember the name of it, but I think it began with a "D". Unfortunately the pharmacy was out of it and i can't pick it up until Friday.

Has anyone heard of this or taken anything like this before? Thanks!

yes, i believe that is the name of it.

I'm on diamox for pseudotumor, it works miracles but makes you tingle like crazy! Topamax also lowers your ICP, I'm on both. Mandy put up some great links.

thanks, the only relief i've had though was for about 2 weeks after the lumbar puncture......... i'll check out those websites!

Hi..

I was taking Diamox for a while but had to stop it due to negative side effects..everyone is different...some folks have no issues with side effects...me? It seems like I am quite sensitive to some meds. Good luck and keep us posted.
