Medication advice

Hello again everyone, I need some advice! A couple months ago when the symptoms started! It was mild and I started taking gabapentin and it worked until I got some weird side effects! I have pericarditis as well, but I just got prescribed lyrica!

I I just need advice on what has worked for people who have Chiari and a heart condition!

Hey @Jdelong ,
As we are not medical professionals, when it comes to medications, we recommend our members speak to their medical team. We do this because there are a few factors that need to be taken into consideration before medications are prescribed, such as other underlaying medical conditions, other medications members may already be prescribed .and the general health of the member. We are not qualified pharmacists and as some interactions between medications can be lethal, we highly suggest speaking to both your dr and the dispensing pharmacy.

For sure  I’m sorry if it came across as me wanting to copy other medication. I really wanted to see if there were others facing the similar issues and how they are dealing with it.

Hey @Jdelong
When it comes to medications some people profess that they have the answer ie “I take medication ‘X’ and it’s the wonder drug…” and for them specifically it may well be, but that’s not to say that it’s the answer for everybody. This is why, as a moderator, I add a word of caution. By no means do I think you need to be apologising, not at all, we’re all searching for our ‘key’. But each person is an individual and so are their specific treatment plans. An example of this is Botox as a treatment, some people swear by it. But for me, I had a ‘sexy’ wrinkle free face, neck and shoulders, but it did very little for my headaches. For those individuals where muscle tension is a contributing factor, Botox may well be that ‘key’ they’ve been hunting for. For those of us with a neurological condition it may not have the same benefit.

We have some members who come and browse the posts for recommendations. When it comes to medications, I often add a word of caution. "…there is no such thing as a ‘Wonder drug’. What may work wonders for one maybe of very little benefit to another…’ but my words of caution are by no means something for you to be apologising for.
