Intercranial hypotension and chiari?

Has anyone been diagnosed with intracranial hypotension along with the chiari? I was first told about the chiari and them a week later after the doctor reviewed the films again said I have this other rare condition…any info would be helpful.

Jshan, low intercranial pressure can CAUSE a Chiari. I don’t know details except that the low pressure can draw the hind brain downward. What has the doc said about the low ICP? Caused by a CSF leak? A leak can come from any breech of the dura, spinal column or brain, but I have also heard of spontaneous leaks caused by “weak” dural tissue. I’m glad you got a diagnosis now you have somewhere to go, but also sorry too- this stinks. Please let us know what you find out. I’m curious to know if nirmal CSF pressure is restored will the chiari spring back up into the skull? How are you feeling?

Ps you can do a key word search in the search bar at the top of the discussions page. I know there have been discussions about this in the past.

Just diagnosed- waiting for pre cert for a MRI with contrast and special views. My doc says it’s rare and a lot isn’t know but will find a specialist when figure out the exact diagnosis. I have good days and bad- some days are really bad but I am more concerned with if this is progressive and I will get worse. I can basically function, but my memory is shot and I’m afraid that won’t come back. Thanks for responding!
