IH symptoms with normal MRI presentation

Hi guys I’m looking for ones that developed IH after decompression. What were your symptoms? Did it present on an MRI at all? Thanks

Classic idiopathic intracranial hypertension symptoms are head-ache, sometimes with nausea, vomiting, and visual changes. Papilledema(swelling of the optic nerves) are the clinical finding most common. MRI does not show anything(usually, it can show venous changes). Diagnostic test of choice of IH is lumbar puncture. If your neurosurgeon isn't comfortable with you getting an LP(if you ahve tethered cord, precarious Chiari, etc), the only other way to test intracranial pressure is an intracranial pressure monitor(which requires drilling a hole in the skull for placement).

Yuck. I have had these symptoms for years, but I am wondering if the reports from the patient are sufficient.

Ok well her issues are severe extreme pressure headaches with a stinging pain in the back of her head where her patch would be. She gets sound sensitive but not so much light, blurry vision with sore eyes and has nausea but no vomiting. She presents neurologically fine as in passes all the examinations they do in the ER. She gets no relief from pain meds and on occasions we go through tylenol mortin and oxycontin without change. Some nights she will roll round in agony for hours. She cant sleep flat and if they had physical education that day at school its a guarantee of major issues that night. She also has urinary frequency anytime she is active. A simply 2 hour shopping trip can mean 4 toilet stops.

She has just been cleared of tethered cord through the latest MRIs. Other thing is every time her pressure goes crazy her seizure control goes out the window completely. She has just been started on topamax and in nearly 4 weeks has only had 4 seizures which is a huge difference but it’s making no difference to these episodes

The funny things is there are characteristics on an MRI. View the pic:

Once those things start showing on the mri you are at higher risk of IH.
