How Fast Can Symptoms Progress?

I guess I fall into the older group with Chiari at 62, and I was wondering how fast symptoms can progress.I am losing feeling in my legs for the most part, but I also have a lot of tingling and numbness in my hands and arms.My memory has deteriorated a great deal in the last six months and the ringing in my ears is unbearable.I would think that these symptoms alone, along with many others like, headache, vision,PAIN etc. would make a doctor take notice, but all I seem to get is indifference. So what I would like to know from somebody is how fast these symptoms can progress?I also have connective tissue problems as well as spinal instability among other things. Can anyone help with there experience with this?Surgery for me has been rejected so far,but I hope I can find a specialist who can help me.

Thanks Abby and Rebecca.

I`m in limbo as far as finding a good doctor goes, but I will keep trying to find one. Thanks for the advice.I will get a full spine MRI to find out exactly what is happening .I have triad Cymbalta, but as with many other drugs I find that I can`t tolerate it.I have found gabapenten very helpful as I would have gone crazy without it.Thanks again for the advice. You are good friends to have.

Thanks razzle51,but Prof. Marcus Stoodley was the specialist who rejected surgery as an option, mainly because he thought a 6mm herniation was borderline and was not responsible for my problems. He did however, admit that connective tissue disorders have been linked to Chiari .He recommended ,pain management as an alternative, but I can`t find anybody to help with that either. Thanks for the information anyway. It`s nice to know someone is trying to help.Australia is very much behind in the treatment of these types of disorders.
