Hello - Question

I originally got on here 7 years ago and I had no idea how much this group would help me. Almost ten years ago I was told I had chiari malformation and it was a 7mm after a car accident. Today my chiari malformation is 17mm and I have to have a decompression surgery that scares me to death. I just want to be my old self again. Does anyone else want there old self back?

More than life itself! Since my Chiari 1 diagnosis with 10mm herniation and reduced CSF flow in the back side of my brain, I have had a migraine for just over 2 years now that goes up and down in intensity throughout the day/week (they tell me it’s not the chiari that contributes to this I say BS), I am now doing monthly injections and Botox every 12 weeks and on gabapentin and rizatriptin, in addition to that I have now been diagnosed with a connective tissue disorder and fibromyalgia….i had mild symptoms I didn’t know were part of chiari my whole Life (balance issues, cercivogenic headaches occasionally, just a clumsy girl who gets the occasional headache when sneezing or using the potty - not anything I would have thought would lead to a chiari diagnosis), then 2 years ago I was in a car accident and had major whiplash and concussion and my life has never been the same. Now I live in so much pain and all I seem to do is babysit my body. I would love to go back to being that clumsy girl, I didn’t know how good she had it. Hang in there! I hope you find some relief from the decompression!
