Has anyone heard of a pseudo meningocele?

Was in the ER for a UTI the other day. Could not urinate. Still not feeling too great. They were very diligent with me being that I had brain surgery 5 mths ago. So, they did a CAT scan of my cspine and abdomen to cover all the bases. They found a Pseudo Meningocele (abnormal fluid buildup). It's near my C1. I have been sore and tender there since my surgery and dr after dr says it's normal and that it's normal post op CSF buildup. The radiology dept at the hospital says this is not normal and to contact my dr. Now what do I do? Once says it's normal and other says it's not!! Not too confusing!!! They also found a dermoid cyst on my left ovary. It's been there for about 3 years now, but it's getting bigger. I'm getting hit from all over. Any feedback on the Meningocele would be great.

Thanks!

Christine

Dear Christine...

Hi Christine,

I had abnormal fluid build up after my surgery too. I had to have a shunt put in 6 months after my surgery. It was pretty easy actually, and it has really helped me. I've never had trouble with my shunt. I think you should definitely contact your neurosurgeon. Make sure they see your recent CT scan. Good luck.

Not too great Lori. Head and neck are always sore. The UTI isn't getting much better. I'm on my 2nd antibiotic too. Having a really hard time urinating. I need this on top of everything else going on!! In lots of prayer right now that all will ease up on me soon.

Hi Carla. My NS keeps telling me everything looks normal. I'll call on Monday to be on the safe side. I think I need my spinal fluid pressure tested. A shunt sounds like it's in my future. The pressure in my head is still pretty bad.

I was checked for that and told that of I had one it would probably require surgery. Definitely seek a second opinion. I was led to believe it can be a serious complication.
Fortunately mine was not a psuedo meningocele. I pray you get answers and relief.
