For the ladies.... Maybe guys... It's embarrassing!

Ok so I’m 24 and have been w/ my soon to be husband in 3 months for 9 years! I know almost half my life!!! We have never had sex problems lol we have two kids now to prove it! Lol but w in the last 6 months I can’t say that. This is around the tIme I started having my chiari symptoms… Thought it was a tired mom thing but I know that’s not it. There is just a lack of drive and sensation which I neeeever had before!! Totally understand if noone wants to replie to this One just thought I would ask bc it’s bothering me!! Thank goodness my fiancé understands and doesn’t get mad when I say no leave me alone about it!!! Lol

Now Abbey:

You have a very valid question here....1st are you taking any meds? some meds are famous for loss of sex drive.

another thing may be the stress of Chiari....another may be a Sx of Chiari.

hun, congrats on your upcoming wedding...don't be embarrassed over the topic...try to talk with your doc about it.

24 yrs old....i am more than double your age!!!!!! Now I really feel old...LOL

Love,

Lori

Yes I’m very lucky that my fiancé knows that something isn’t normal w me and doesn’t get mad or think I don’t love him

Abbey,

I agree with Lori that certain medications, especially anti-depressants, can lower our sex drive. It may be a coincidence that you have experienced this at the same time that the Chiari symptoms started. It really could be that you are a tired Mom. Alot of young mothers do experience a time period where they are not interested in sex because of being busy, tired, run down, etc. I also believe that the lack of sex drive could be a symptom of Chiari. Especially the lack of sensation. I have also experienced this since my surgery. I was told that this actually has to do with the nerves and the sensitivity in that area. I have a lot of shooting pains in my groin. I have had this going on since they put my shunt in about 2 1/2 years ago. I take Neurontin for the nerve pain, but it doesn’t help with the loss of sensation. I know it is an embarrassing topic to bring up with doctors or anyone else, but maybe you could talk to your fiance and tell him that it may be a symptom of your Chiari and it’s not that you don’t love him! Glad you brought it up, it will make you feel better to talk about it. Check out the discussion I posted about Chiari Symptom List. You won’t believe all the stuff that is on there that will probably help you to not feel so alone!

Take care,

Carla

Well I can tell you Chiari has mosr certainly dampened my drive- and lets just say I liked it prob a bit more the most females, LOL no not a nymph haha but anyway being before the chiari kicked my butt i was under massive amounts of stress then chiari took over my world and has defidently enflicked its pain on my sex drive.

No its NOT just you. NO you are NOT insane, NO you are not unloved/unwanted

YES i believe it is a medical issues

YES i believe it IS associated to Chiari

YES there is something you can do about it, incase you are worried about your spouse- TALK to them and make sure he/she understands what you are going through

YES i believe it also messes with us emotionally too.

and YES talk to your doctor they may beable to offer you some suggestions

but for those who may be a little skiddish in talking to your doctor, there are some OTC "gels" and creams you can use- there will soon be (or maybe is now) something available for women like viagra. but oddly enough i will tell you what has allowed me to maintain somekind of sex life...eating a 2cups of fresh mixed fruits w/blueberries daily not exactly sure why it helped it just did.

and remember maintaining a sex life doesnt always mean intercourse, sometimes its just nice for BOTH of you to hold each other and just be close..(not exactly sure how to word that but hope you know what iam trying to say)..a massage, some soft gentle touching may heighten the senses and give you both what you need/want/desire ;)

Yes soooo true thanks for those well worded thoughts!!!
