Dr. Leslie Acakpo-Satchivi

Has anyone heard of this neurosurgeon? He is in Springfield Illinois. He is my neurosurgeon and I was wondering if anyone else has seen him. He seems to know what he is talking about and Chiari is one of his specialties. He is wanting to do surgery on me and I am nervous about letting someone cut me open. I have never had surgery of any type. He says I have a pretty bad case though and I need surgery immediately. At first I didn't want to admit it. But as time goes by I am getting worse every day and now I know I have no other options. Just have to trust someone to do it. I think I am okay with this doctor doing it but my family wants second opinion first. They don't have any idea of the pain I suffer with. I have researched and researched and I know I need this done ASAP. My family wants me to put the surgery off till next year. Both my doctor and I feel that is a bad decision. Anyways if anyone knows anything about Dr. Satchivi please let me know. Thank you.

J, if you feel good with the NS follow your instincts. I’m sorry - it sounds like your family isn’t really on board with the severity of your situation. That makes a difficult time even harder. If they were in your shoes they would be singing a different tune. Hang in there.

I have been trying to find a Chiari specialist in my network also in Illinois and I just came across Dr. Satchivi.

My chiari has descended from 4mm to 6.9mm in the last year and I’m trying to find someone who will even acknowledge my Chiari as causing my symptoms. How did you feel about Dr.Satchivi and how did your surgery go?
