Hi everybody,
I have Chiari 1 but truly have a question in reference to my son. He is 18 now but was diagnosed with Chiari at the age of 6. In looking back on my son's medical records, I see where (at BIRTH) the doctor noted that there was an abnormality with the shape of his head/skull, yet nothing was ever said to me. I suppose my question is, IF there was an abnormality at birth, why didn't the doctor mention anything to us? My son wasn't diagnosed with Chiari until 6 months AFTER being diagnosed with Epilepsy. Are there links between the two illnesses? The reason I ask that is, when my son was being seen by a neuro in Ohio, they told us there wasn't any connection between Chiari and Epilepsy. I can't help but wonder if the Chiari is what may have actually aided in the onset of Epilepsy? Am I totally off on this? Any help would be grately appreciated!
God Bless,
Tonia
I have no idea, but want you to know someone is reading this. I also thought I'd bump you to the top of the list so perhaps someone who knows will see and respond.
Hang in there!
Hope you find your answers :)
Thank you so much! Any help is appreciated.

Hmm I have heard of people with chiari with epilepsy there is a pediatric chiari board on chiari and I have heard from some of them their children had seizures I think one or two did say their children had epilepsy. This is what I found when I googled it. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21796429
Thank you so much for this link. I'll check it out.
