I am three years post-op with no signs of anything having gone wrong. Although r many symptoms went away at first, a lot came back and gradually developed and got worse over the last few years, particularly related to tightness in the joints. I now click all of the joints that hurt very regularly. It feels really painful if I don’t do it even though it can sometimes hurt to click the joints. I’ve been told that it’s not good and I should stop but I can’t as it is just too uncomfortable otherwise. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had problems like this and if so if there’s anything that can be done to stop doing it?
Good day
Motor control exercises to normalize movement patterns for whatever area of the body can do a good job of regulating joint pain. Agree that self-manipulation of joints is damaging and changes (decreases) the brain's perception of the joint which causes you to want to crack it more. Bad circle! A good physiotherapist educated in assessing and treating motor control issues should be able to help with what you are describing.
