Chiari NS consult

Hey everybody. FYI Just received a consult from a NS. He ordered a bunch of tests to see what is causing some of my symptoms including bodywide fasciculations, numbness in wrists and legs, and other (possibly chiari related) symptoms. I will be getting another MRI on my brain but he also ordered C, T, and L Spine MRI's to see if there is a syrinx present. Also checking on compressions in the discs. Will also be getting a follow up EMG and NCS from my Neuro at the end of the month.

My first MRI last June revealed a 2.2 cm herniation of the cerbral tonsils and Medulla. When the NS looked at this he was shocked that I do not suffer from headaches! Which is why he ordered another MRI to check for a Syrinx.

I will keep you posted.

Good! I wish all NSs were this thorough! Thanks for update James!

Yes it is cine
The MRI was done Monday night so I should hear any day now. The NS also ordered a follow up ncs/emg which I have scheduled for the end of the month. The NS seems very thorough which is good. Will keep u posted

I have not replied in awhile, been busy with teaching and coaching. The neurosurgeon and neurologist ran a boat load of test, mostly negative. I did have an mri on spinal cord and revealed stenosis in the t4-t6 and c6-c7. Chiari has remained the same. The EMG and NCS are relatively normal. So just dealing with the fasciculations, minor headaches and neck aches. Just trying to keep positive and keep rolling!
