Aneeshas duroplasty and hydrocephalus after surgery

We took Aneesha to get her staples removed and discuss the lTest MRI with her surgeon…it turned out that she has got hydrocephalus…this is a development after the duroplasty…we don’t know what to do…the doc says to wait n watch as it might get better on its own as the brain has ways to adjust itself. He said that the only option other wise would be the shunt which he is not too eager to do …he said to wait n see if the symptoms go away in time …she has focussing issues…can’t walk or stand on her own …sleep apnea… But hardly any head aches now and is not on any pain meds…she had serious swallowing issues but is fine now…can sit for a while …we don’t know what to make of Ll this…the syrinx needed to be removed…that was the reason for this surgery and now the hydrocephalus is a shock for us…has this ever happened to anyone of you here who have had duroplasty and decompression??? Can hydrocephalus disappear in time by itself if it is caused by surgery???Please ,please have some answers for me…anxiously waiting to hear from you…
Blessings, Ambareen

Hello Mandy,
Thanks for the suggestions…yes I am concerned because of her new development…that is the hydrocephalus…the doc says that’s what’s causing her to not stand or sit for long…along with her focussing vision issue…besides that she has developed sleep apnea…I just want to know if any one here has had hydrocephalus?..and whether it can happen after a duroplasty?..I am still not sure whether it’s the vision or the hydro cephalosporin that is hindering her walk…though her pain is much much better than before…Thank you so much for taking out your precious time to answer and support me in this trying time…blessings and regards, Ambareen

thanks Emmaline,
It’s heartening to know that there is still hope…it’s just that the hydrocephalus has really scared the hell out of us, as I have not heard anyone mention this happening after the surgery…I was hoping I could get some info regarding this from some one here…Thank you so much for your quick response and encouraging words…they really do mean a lot at a time like this…Please do keep in touch and help me with anything you think would be of any use to us…Blessings and love, Ambareen
