Abnormal EEG and 3-5 mm hernation

So, my son had a followup appointment with his neurologist yesterday to do an EEG and discuss the results of his MRI. I went even though I didn't think I would get many answers and I didn't. We already have an appointment with a neurosurgeon who specializes in Chiari in a couple of weeks, but I figured at least I can get the EEG done and see if that shows anything and at least give this neurologist (who I really liked in the beginning) a chance to explain Chiari as he sees it. First he says lets talk about the MRI, and he goes on to say even though it says he has a 3-5 mm hernation, its no big deal and it isnt considered Chiari Malformation until it reaches 6 mms. So don't worry about it, let him play football (Varsity football at that). He said people can trip and hit their head and you can't walk around worried about that all the time!!! Then he says the EEG was abnormal and it showed some epileptic like spikes coming from the back of the head, but don't worry about that, I don't think that's any cause for concern. WOW, is all I could think when I walked out of there. He doesn't think the 2 are related, but I'm thinking they are especially since the spikes were from the same region with an obvious malformation!
