Yawn...yawn...yawn

I was wondering if anyone else has a problem with constant yawning? Atleast once a day, if not more, I start yawning about 3-4 times a minute. It usually lasts anywhere from 5-10 mnutes. I was told by my docor that we yawn because our brain is in need of extra oxygen...?

It also seems to happen if I'm late taking my pain meds. I just wanted to know if this might be a common problem in people with Chiari, or if it is just me.

It definatly could be caused by your meds, or lack of meds. Especially any opiate-type meds. I've been on and off them for years, I do get yawning fits when I am due to take them or am overdue. I hope it isn't anything more serious!

While I don’t have chiari myself, I do have a yawning problem. I combat it by chewing gum. It gives your mouth something to do. Just try not to make it obvious that your chewing gum if you’re in a meeting. I hope that will help you some.

Lol, now this is funny because I thought I was the only one that yawns like that. I do it during the day but at night when I should be sleeping I don't yawn as much but it could be related to the meds that we take .

I thought I might have been the only one also...lol!

I am thinkng that it might be med related too. I try very hard to stay on a strict schedule with my meds and If I get off track in the least bit the yawning gets bad...it's almost like my body starts the detox process.

Thanks Everyone for your input :)
