Top 5 Symptoms

I hope the pamelor helps… I had a doctor prescribe me pamelor then elavil, both caused me so much drowsiness… I don’t think there is a big difference between the two? But sadly I couldn’t give either of them a long enough chance to see if they work, due to feeling “hungover” the next day. I’m super sensitive to meds, I really hope you get some relief. Have you explored the surgical option? I left a message for another NS near me who developed a “novel” Chiari decompression surgery that only requires a one inch incision. And apparently less hospital time and an easier recovery. His name is Dr. Sekula from UPMC (out of Pittsburgh, PA) near where I live. Really need to get a doctor to at least discuss that my Chiari may be the cause of all my awful symptoms…

After I got the MRI with Chiari, I was referred to a Neurosurgeon. He said that he didn't think my symptoms warranted surgery and referred me to a Neurologist.

My symptoms: blurred vision, headaches, balance problems, coordination problems, photosensitivity

These are symptoms of Chiari!! Fact!!

"The majority of patients complain of severe headache and neck pain. Other common symptoms are dizziness, vertigo, disequilibrium, visual disturbances, ringing in the ears, difficulty swallowing, palpitations, sleep apnea, muscle weakness, impaired fine motor skills, chronic fatigue and painful tingling of the hands and feet. Because of this complex symptomatology, patients with CM1 are frequently misdiagnosed.

Get together all your sources and take them with you to the Doctor and don't let them tell you they are not Chiari!!

Thanks Lindy for the links! Next appt I’m bringing printed material in with me! I have so many of those symptoms :frowning: … I wonder how many people out there are walking around being diagnosed as MS or something else and not knowing they really have Chiari. My last neurologist told me “your swallowing issues can’t be related to Chiari bc you would be showing signs of being off balance first before your swallowing bc of the area of the brain that controls it” he checked my balance basically by having me walk 4 steps
