Not to worry....this discussion is on the lighter side..Thank God, right??
Anyway......
Starting a couple of months ago I started getting calls from...LIFESTYLE LIFT...as seen on TV....1 hr wrinkle reliever . Well...guess who gave them my #??? MY HUSBAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY SH*T!!!
They kept calling to set up a consult...
Well...2 days ago I was talking via cell to my friend Jean of 40 yrs..she lays this on me...something like this..."Lori, I have been trying to put your name in on "EXTREME MAKE-OVER..but I am having trouble getting through...don't worry, I will figure it out...Bye, Love you!"
Gang....I guess I look like hell and need help!!!! The above 2 things really boosted my self=esteem!!LOL
Next thing I know I will get a call from some show on how to firm up and get rid of the sagging skin..which BTW is all over my entire body!!!
This is all for real....should I be concerned???LOL
Awe…Lori, Some people don’t think before opening their mouths. They probably just want you to be pampered a little bit with everything you’ve been through, but their approach was definitely not the best. I’m only 32 so I don’t have a lot of wrinkles yet, but my mom periodically comments that I should start using a wrinkle cream. She thinks of it as taking time for myself, but a lot of the time I don’t have the energy for that kind of effort. Since last Saturday, I had to work 5 out of 8 days, which is a LOT for me. Normally, I just work 2 days a week because that is all I can physically handle. Several people were out sick, so I had to cover. I was worried that if I didn’t, I may lose my job. So…I toughed through it …barely. I got comments like, “No makeup today?” and “You’re not taking a shower?” I don’t think people get how much effort it takes for us to do what should be simple things. I had my family and friends read “The Spoon Theory” and it helped some, but they still don’t get it. Don’t let it get to you too much…I think you are a beautiful person and I’m sure everyone here agrees with me.
I wouldn't worry. You have enough to deal with. Unless you want to change something about yourself. Then go for it. I have never fallen for peer pressure. Maybe they are thinking if you had a makeover you would feel better. Who knows????? I know you are beautiful, just the way you are !!!! I would probably remind them of their imperfections...Or tell them I would go but they would have to agree to go with me.
Chalk it up to your husband wanting you to be papmpered and wanting to do something special for you! I think our husbands usually have wonderful intentions, but forget how women think! To us this would be a "oh my gosh, do I look that bad?" and to them it's "my wife would love something like this and then I look like a great husband!"
You're wonderful the way you are, but if you decide to do it just have fun!
Kinda speechless Lori. You have a great sense of humor and are amazing!! I agree with Crystal, they're hearts are probably in the right places, but holy cow!! We already feel like crap and our loved ones try to boost us up with suggestions of cosmetic improvement. Okay!!! lol You do what you feel is right for you ONLY. But, remember, don't let your decision be muscled by their power of suggestion. You're beautiful just the way you are!! XO
i think i would ask hubby what his intentions were behind giving the place my number? not in an accusing manner either-- do it with that sense of humor you have
as for the friend. not sure but i'd say since you've known her for 40 yrs ask her and say whats up with that why are you doing that? --maybe she just thought with all you been through you deserve to be pampered.
Girl you are perfect just the way you are. I would say, those people have enough time on their hands that if they want to spare some... they could come and help clean your house!! :)
However, I would like this extra stuff sucked from my belly and thighs so you can route the calls to me.
you know if I could get away with it I would do the same for my wife. She needs pampered but I don't think she would she the humor in it. IT was hard enough to convince her to use a day at the spa certificate I got her for one Christmas. There were no ill intentions on that either. They just want to pamper and spoil you just like you deserve
