How is a parent supposed to accept the fact that their child is about to have brain surgery in the near future. It's extremely scary for this mommy as I had the surgery 3/31/06 and I know the pain she is going through I feel like a complete wreck.
As a Mother, I understand and feel your pain. No matter what statistics I can quote and kind statements and prayers I will pray. Your baby is still having surgery for an illness we all know and live with daily. You are going to have to reach deep inside yourself past the fear & pain to the strength I know exists in caring Mother's. You will be strong and positive for your daughter. She will feel any fears or conflict you are feeling. I know this will be hard, but Mothers are capable of great feats if our children need us. You are going to be great for her and you. You have survived Chiari that alone tells me you are a strong woman. Surgery is not as hard on younger people & children. They recover faster and have far less complications than adults. We will all be with you is spirit and you can post anytime. You will not be alone. We understand.
You and your daughter and family will be in my prayers. Please, Please let us know how your daughter and you are doing. When I say that I really mean it & am not just being polite. Believe in yourself and the power of love. I was once told by a Dr. that is a friend of mine "There is nothing fiercer than a Mother when her child is in peril. It's like they morph into Momma Grizzly protecting her cubs" I even have a sculpture of a Mother grizzly and her cub. It reminds me no matter how bad things are with me I am still an amazing Mother that will be strong and protect and care for my daughter till my last breathe. Every time you get scared or worried you think about that fierceness...It lives inside Loving Mother's. You are going to be great for you and your daughter. I can feel your love in your words. Your daughter needs you to be her Healthcare Advocate while she is ill. That takes strength I know you have.....Focus on the Love and Strength and Fierceness and that will keep the worries in check.
