I went to a pain management clinic today and they would like to do a radiofrequency neurotomy on the left side of my neck between C3 and C5. Has anyone had this done and do you think it is safe for people with Chiari? I've had one of these done before but it was on my right side and much lower down by my shoulder blade. The results were not good and now the that side has soreness and feels like there is a pin stuck in my back! Just a little nervous because it's so close to the decompression surgery site.
If you had it done before farther away from your neck and it caused you discomfort I wouldn't do it again. I've never had it done but I have had a lot of procedures done to me that were suppose to help me and left me flaired up for weeks with no recourse or resources to help me with the extra pain and discomfort I was in. Hopefully someone that has had this done will chime in but I wouldn't do it if I were you. I would be one thing if the previous time was successful but if it bothered you once it's completely possible it will again. Many things that work for other conditions or even other people are painful for Chiarians. It's never taken much to flair me up and it took me a long time to have the courage to say no to somethings or stop something or someone that is in process of doing something. It's your body and you have the right to tell them that you are uncomfortable going through with something not for the discomfort it will cause you while they are doing it but for what you will suffer through afterwards. Just my two cents. : )
