I know I should put my health first but have you ever been too busy to even make a doctor's appointment? I need to get in b/c my headaches are back full force (I had surgery July 5th). But there are just so many things going on that don't have a free day to squeeze a visit in b/c it would be an all day, or at least half a day, affair. My doctor is an hour away so I cant just swing by. Maybe the headaches are from stress, huh? Well just needed to vent a little.:-)
Hi...
Boy, can I relate to what you are saying! I am wonderful, just wonderful, at giving advice...BUT...I never seem to take my own wise words of wisdom!
Yes, you do, indeed , need to put your health first..if you are not well..you cannot be effective all the things you must do every day.
That being said...even though your doc is 1 hr away..is it possible to make the appointment...then let your family know in advance about this important appointment...this way, they all know that you are going to be away from the home that day..and they will have to make due without for the time you will not be there. I say this because I have to let my family know...they are use to be always being here...for rides..to take care of the dogs..ect..
I really think as women, we tend to put everyone else first...being a 'giver' is a good thing...however, how can we give to others when we are not feeling well.
Oh, what great input I just gave...now I need to follow it more myself!!!
Please call for an appointment and keep the appointment! I am famous for cancelling....like you mentioned..things are busy and something always seems to pop up!
Let us know how it goes!
That is me too lol. I am the first to tell someone else how and what to do but I never practice what I preach lol. Between the kids' volleyball, band, and homecoming coming up I am just overwhelmed on top of work and every day life.
Yes, stress can make your symptoms worse! So does being tired. You are still healing too. I hope you can manage to rest and make it to an appointment.
I totally understand! Although the fact that you are as busy as you are mere months out of surgery amazes me! I was unable to work for about 4 months after my surgery.
Stress definitely makes the headaches worse. And I find lighting causes issues too! I'm having repeat symptoms (1 year and 11 months since my surgery and I get repeat symptoms...SUCKS!!) and I work a desk job on the computer under fluorescent lighting and it kills me. My boss actually bought me a hat today to wear at work to cut the glare from the lights. Yay!
I would make an appointment for your earliest convenience, even if you have to plan it out a month ahead to make sure that nothing is going to interfere with it.
I understand having a doctor far away too, my doctor is a 5 hour drive from me... mostly because the wait for a family doctor where I currently live is a minimum of 8 months.
You definitely need to do what is best for you. Good luck! Sending my good thoughts and juju your way and I hope the headaches go away and its just from you being so active and lively!
You definitely need to make an appointment. I am very much like you where I don't put my self first and end up neglecting myself horribly. Having a 3 year old and an 8 month old its always like there isn't enough time in a day, so I feel your pain (no pun intended lol). But one thing I learned is I cant be the person my children need me to be if I'm not taking care of myself. If your body is telling you somethings wrong, you need to listen to it. Could you possibly go to a doctor a little closer to you first instead of going to that specific doctor (I don't know if you mean a specialist or neurosurgeon), maybe a neurologist closer by or even your primary care physician just to see what he/she thinks? It's very important you take care of it even if its not a big deal, you or I wouldn't know that for sure until you talk to a professional. Then, if there's any concerns to see that doctor that's so far away, it would be worth taking that time off to get it taken care of. Take Care.
Hi..
How are you feeling today?? Did you make an appointment with your doctor?? I know it is a haul..about an hour, right? With all you do and the daily happenings, I am sure you feel as though you are too busy to go see him..BUT...you need to think of yourself first when it comes to your health...sorry for my preaching!! Just care! Let us know how you are.
Lori
I have an appointment with my NS next Wednesday. I have sitters lined up and places for everyone to go!!! I just hope now that this is simple and doesn't drag out forever. :-) I am so optimistic huh?
Please vent whenever you need to. We understand !!!
Well I went to my NS yesterday and got a hmmmmm lol. He is scheduling me for an MRI and see how that looks and go from there.
Let us know how the MRI goes!
Good!
Went yesterday for MRI follow-up. Good news is that the surgery part is still looking like it is doing good!!! But I am still having the headaches. They are sending me to an ENT for the large pollop in my sinus cavity, although these aren't sinus type headaches. He agreed that they more than likely not even related but wants me to have it checked out. Ok call me a baby or fed up or whatever but I am not jumping into sinus surgery. :-P Also now they want me to do ANOTHER MRI with contrast, after me asking for it to go ahead and be done last time, b/c he wants a closer look at the cyst on my pineal. Here we go again. And he has brought up occipital neuralgia and probable injections. I am just tired of doctors folks!!!
I have the shakes extra bad today. If my nerves don't ease up I am going to throw things and blame it on my muscle spasms :-)
