# Just Bone removal for surgery

Has anyone here had just bone for the decompression surgery? My NS wants to only do bone removal and put in a shunt or a plate I believe. I have a 5-7 MM herniation very symptomatic but no CSF blockage.. I'm concerned that the bone removal will not be enough to fix the issue and they will have to go back in.. I'm also grateful that the bone removal is less dangerous than the whole procedure.. What is your experience?

I had basic boney decompression surgery and laminectomy of the C1 vertebrae. I didn't have any other work done.. I was symptom free for 2.5 years.

I look at it as the less invasive the better. The recovery should be more pleasant with less procedure. I had decompression, duraplast, and laminectomy of C1. I was only scheduled for decompression but gave permission to do what was needed.
