Is surgery recommended with only exertional headaches as symptoms?

Hi All,

Thank you for all the replies.

Here's my current status;

Last week I got spine MRI to check for any syrinx and it came out normal. No synrix. So I am relieved to know that.

My neurologist put me on Diamox 250 mg twice daily morning and evening. I have been taking diamox for past 2 months. Its not a great option but I feel it helps with controlling the intensity of the pain. I am being careful and trying not to laugh much :|. I sent my scans to TCI to get an appt and they came back to me saying that they might take another 10 days to review the scans and see if I can come meet the doctors there. Meanwhile I have one more neuro-surgeon appt with a diff doctor in NYC in about 10 days.

Current plan is to get atleast 3 neuro surgeon recommendations and then decide a plan of action. I have one so far. I still have intense headaches while laughing and whooshing sound in the ears. Diamox gives me tingling in the fingers and toes and I feel dehydrated and loss of appetite. But I still feel these are manageable. So really haven't decided about surgery yet. May be things will be more clear when I get more expert opinions in the nex month.

Meanwhile, anyone has any idea what could be the long term side effects of using Diamox everyday?

Take care everyone
