My 7 year old had decompression 7 months ago. Syrinx hasn't shrunk according to MRI 4 months ago. Nuerosurgeon told me my child could participate in sports/activities as I felt comfortable (I'm taking the advice of the "what not to do' list I've seen circulating around the internet). Anyways, Hunter is in baseball and is playing outside (just more active----post-surgery). He's beginning to complain of headaches(only a couple times in a two-three week period) and feet/legs hurting (which has been his key complaint). My question is ....should I be concerned about the headaches? Should I call neurologist? Neurosurgeon?
I would probably call the neurosurgeon. Are the symptoms different or more intense than 4 months ago or prior to the surgery? Any difference in his symptoms may indicate a change in the syrinx, which I wouldn't mess around with.
