Ok peeps....I had a new one today. I went for my MRI's to check for Syrinx, and about 30 minutes after I got out of the machine I started having chest pains. They were like this squeezing, tightening pressure in my chest, right around my left breast and felt completely fine otherwise. I know chest pains can be a symptom for Chiari, but I've only had chest pains (severe) once before (before Chiari dx) and went to the ER and nothing was found. But chest pains are no joke, because you just never know. So after 4 hours of this I called my PCM's on call line and talked to a doc. He said he didn't think it was heart disease or heart attack and actually said that sometimes the power of the MRI can do some funny things with nerves that could possibly cause it. He told me to take 800mg of Motrin and if it wasn't any better in an hour to go to the ER. Well....I am all better. So...does the power of the magnet in the MRI irritate the herniation? and cause flare ups? Anyone else ever experienced this? I'm glad I feel better, and next time I know how to handle it, but its just wierd!
