Wow, this makes me angry. My doctor used to have me on Clonazepam for my sleep issues but I asked to be prescribed something else because I was having a hard time waking up in the morning. I got switched to Ambien and am not the least bit drowsy when I wake.
Wonder if there will be a spike in accidents because people will be drowsy because they can’t sleep?! Not a serious question, I’m just upset…!
I think this should remain a case by case type thing. As for me 1/2 dose does nothing for me, I take12.5 mg ambienCR in combination with 450 mg seroquel (i also take 150 in the am and 300 at noon) along w ativan. I have a high tolerance to meds on top of extreme insomnia. The real reason it should be questioned is bc when i first started taking it i did major things in my sleep, such as interacting completely normally such as having a convrrsation w my husband so he didnt know and dtove to the movies, watched a movie and drove home IN MY SLEEP, and had no memoru of any of it. I also did things like accidentally OD'ing on all 9 meds i was taking with no memory of it. Luckily those things dont happen anymore.
The one time I took Ambien... it was prescribed to me when I couldn't get to sleep during my ugly divorce... I tripped my FACE off. People turned into foxes. The ceiling waved at me for an hour. The living room turned into a winter ice wonderland, covered in beautiful crystals. And I spent 45 minutes sitting on the steps to the basement, because the banister turned into a dragon's wing and started breathing.
I called the doctor's office to suggest all of this might constitute an action item, and I was told "Hallucinations are a known risk." Ahhhhhhhhhh, I beg your pardon, but did this not constitute "need to know" information? I think I should be told if I am suddenly going to find myself in a David Bowie/Jim Henson movie, so I can at least have a baby sitter and some popcorn.
Suffice it to say, my charts now say "No Ambien." On the other hand, if I ever want to trip my face off again, I know how, legally.
That is a reaction I have never heard of with ambien
