I am supposedly through with the infection, but I still have some pressure in the back of my head that I did not have post-surgery. Hopefully it will go away. How have you been doing?

I was diagnosed at 52 - had decompression surgery last April so I’m nearing the one hear mark. I fell out of the shower and hit my head - symptoms started a few months later (balance issues). Looking back I had symptoms for years w/coordination but luckily no headaches. I know what you mean about being diagnosed when we are old since the data I’ve seen people are much younger. I just feel blessed to you lived a relatively symptom free life and that this is not a diagnosis that will kill me. Glass half full !
I have been doing ok. I have noticed more dizziness lately and I sometimes wonder if we do notice more symptoms once we realize why we are feeling these things? I don’t know? The worst symptoms for me are the neck pain and headaches but the dizziness and mild nausea every time I look up or turn my head are becoming more frequent. I actually had a lot of that following my concussion in 2011 but I was treated with the epley maneuver at physical therapy for positional vertigo ( the whole ear crystal thing) and it seemed to go away. Just wonder why it’s flaring now? But the glass is half full cause there are always people with so much worse health issues to deal with!!
I am 30 years old. Diagnosed at age 25 after a car accident. I have an 8mm herniation. I feel my diagnosis was a blessing in disguise as I was married and got pregnant with twins a year later. Thankfully I saw a great NS who specializes in Chiaris and ordered anesthia & C-section. No surgery as of yet but I am becoming more & more symptomatic.
Elle I have had some of the same thoughts of being grateful of having a late in life onset of symptoms and diagnosis…not so long to deal with it as most patients are much younger. Of course, I am not sure how advanced age and Chiari symptoms will "mix" as I have seen few or no postings of others much older that I am. (I am close to 67)

I was diagnosed in 2011 aged 51. I had been having headaches since age 6, according to my mum. The NS said it didn’t need operated on at the moment. I’ve had no discussion of symptoms, what to look for, what to expect etc. I feel a bit adrift, which is why I joined the forum.
